Patient question
I have several damaged and missing teeth and would like to restore my smile with fixed dental implants and zirconia crowns.
I understand that some teeth may need to be extracted and that I might require additional bone support before implant placement.
What treatment would be suitable for me, and would sinus lift surgery or bone grafting be necessary?

Based on the initial assessment, a combination of dental extractions, implants, sinus lift procedures, bone grafting, and zirconia restorations may be recommended to restore both the function and appearance of your smile.
Several teeth appear to require extraction before implant treatment can begin. In addition, the available bone in the upper posterior jaw may not be sufficient for conventional implant placement without additional bone augmentation.
Proposed Treatment Plan
1. Dental Extractions
The following 8 teeth are planned for extraction:
Teeth 12, 16, 22, 26, 27, 45, 47, and 48
2. Dental Implant Treatment
A total of 8 dental implants may be placed in the following regions:
Upper jaw: 12, 16, 22, 26, and 27
Lower jaw: 36, 45, and 46
These implants will provide support for replacing missing teeth and restoring chewing function.
3. Sinus Lift and Bone Grafting
The proposed treatment also includes:
Bilateral open sinus lift procedures in the upper jaw
Bone grafting to increase the available bone volume and support implant placement
These procedures may be necessary because of insufficient bone height in the upper posterior jaw.
Depending on your bone condition, a healing period may be required before or after implant placement.
4. Zirconia Restorations
Once the implants have successfully integrated and the healing process is complete, the final restorative treatment may include:
26 zirconia restorations covering the regions of teeth 16–27 and 37–46
Professional dental cleaning
A custom night guard to help protect the final restorations from excessive bite forces, clenching, or grinding during sleep
The zirconia restorations will be designed to improve the colour, shape, symmetry, and overall appearance of your smile while restoring comfortable chewing function.
Treatment Timeline and Important Considerations
Because your treatment involves extractions, sinus lift surgery, bone grafting, and dental implants, it may need to be completed in multiple stages.
The healing period will depend on the condition of your jawbone, the extent of the grafting procedures, and the stability of the implants.
The final number and position of implants, the need for additional bone grafting, and the timing of the permanent zirconia restorations will be confirmed after a detailed clinical examination and three-dimensional CBCT evaluation.
Our goal is to provide a stable, functional, and natural-looking smile while ensuring that your implants and restorations have the appropriate support for long-term success.
