Patient question

I have several damaged and missing teeth and would like to restore my smile with dental implants and zirconia crowns.

I understand that some teeth may need to be extracted and that bone grafting could be necessary before implant placement.

How many times would I need to travel to Istanbul, and what would happen during each visit?

Based on the initial assessment, your treatment will need to be completed in three separate visits to Istanbul because several teeth require extraction, and additional bone grafting and sinus lift procedures are planned before the final restorations can be placed.

The treatment will be carried out in stages to allow sufficient healing and provide stable support for your dental implants.

First Visit – Dental Extractions

During your first visit, the teeth that cannot be predictably preserved will be extracted.

The planned extractions include:

  • 8 teeth: 12, 16, 22, 26, 27, 45, 47, and 48

After the extractions, a healing period will be required before proceeding with the next surgical stage.

Second Visit – Dental Implants and Bone Grafting

During your second visit, dental implants will be placed in the planned regions.

The proposed treatment includes:

  • 10 dental implants in the regions of teeth 12, 16, 17, 22, 26, 27, 36, 37, 45, and 46

  • Bilateral open sinus lift procedures in the upper jaw

  • Bone grafting to improve bone support in the areas where additional bone volume is required

The sinus lift procedures are intended to create sufficient bone height in the upper posterior jaw to support implant placement.

Depending on the available bone and the stability of the implants, additional healing time may be required before the final zirconia restorations can be fitted.

Third Visit – Final Zirconia Restorations

Once the implants have successfully integrated with the surrounding bone and the healing process is complete, the final restorations can be prepared and fitted.

The proposed restorative treatment includes:

  • 28 zirconia restorations covering teeth 17–27 and 37–47

  • Professional dental cleaning

  • A custom night guard to help protect the final restorations from excessive bite forces, clenching, or grinding during sleep

The zirconia restorations will be designed to improve the colour, shape, symmetry, and overall appearance of your smile while restoring comfortable chewing function.

Treatment Timeline and Important Considerations

Since your treatment involves multiple extractions, sinus lift procedures, bone grafting, and dental implants, three separate visits are recommended to allow the necessary healing between surgical and restorative stages.

The exact time between visits will depend on how well the extraction sites heal, the success of the bone grafting procedures, and the integration of the implants.

In some cases, implant placement may need to be postponed after sinus lifting if sufficient primary stability cannot be achieved.

The final treatment plan and timeline will be confirmed after a detailed clinical examination and three-dimensional CBCT evaluation.

Our goal is to provide a stable, functional, and natural-looking smile while allowing sufficient time for proper healing and long-term treatment success.
